Before.I used to think that the iPod touch was a waste of money. Something that people bought only because of the hype. I had dismissed it as an overpriced piece of junk.
November 2009.
I had been dying for a new music player and I came up with the ultimate iPod Touch alternative: The Zune HD. It sported amazing specs, including an OLED screen, and a myriad of other features. It also looked extremely sleek. I waited a week til its release date and purchased it on the first day. I was instantly amazed by the screen and its music playing capabilities. However, as the week went on, I started to notice its weaknesses: lack of Youtube support, bad browser and an app store that was so restricted that there was almost no room for growth. I started to feel as if the $200+ I spent on the Zune was completely wasted. I decided to return the Zune and buy the new third generation iPod Touch.
Now.
I cannot live without my iPod touch. I use it for so many things, music, videos, games, calendar, time, weather and even notes! The iPod also serves as my secondary "computer" when my real computer is not working! What makes the iTouch (and iPhone) so versatile? The apps of course. Every night before I sleep, I usually listen to my music. While listening I always check out the latest free apps to see if there is anything I like. By doing this, I have found many extremely fun games, and other types of tools that make life much easier. These include paid games which were free for a day, apps that allow you to find hidden WiFi spots, flashlights, book collections and many more. Even now, the app store constantly grows, and hundreds of apps are added every single day. I can't wait to share with the class my adventures in the jungle known as the app store.
Sakib, I can definitely relate to you, because I remember the first time I held an Ipod touch in 2007. It was like an “all-in-one” in the palm of my hand. I thought its possibilities were endless. There was an app for pretty much anything. The only thing is that there was no app store when the ipod first came out. There were other illegal companies that had many apps to download. However, this required jailbreaking. That was the catch of such a useful gadget. That was the only setback in the whole operation. But as of July 26th, the US Copyright Office ruled that jailbreaking an iPhone or any other mobile device will no longer violate federal copyright law. This really made me cheer, because now the capabilities of an ipod touch are truly endless. I advocated the decision because I always believed in giving consumers as much as you can for the price they pay. I understand that there are still some setbacks with jailbreaking like losing your warranty or ending up with a bricked ipod, but those consequences should be the only ones in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteBtw, comment my posts. thanks
I used to use a ipod shuffle!A long way to come for the ipod touch. I use my iTouch every day now!Especially in the morning, when it serves as my alarm clock/weather report.
ReplyDeleteI have not owned one yet, mostly because of cost/utility value to me (I don't really listen to music....what o.o). I may get one in the future because of the growing number of apps. Just curious, what do you think of the iPad?
ReplyDeleteMhmmmmm iPod touch. Apple really revolutionized the whole media industry with the iPod Touchs and the iPhones. It was such a "magical" device and still is!
ReplyDeleteHahahah I feel the same way, as well as for the iphone. Too many useless applications, too big etc etc.... By principle I have not let myself break and buy either one of them.
ReplyDeleteExcept that my opinion has not changed on that subject.
@ Nathan: I wholeheartedly agree. If I buy it, it is MINE, and therefore I can do ANYTHING I want with it.
ReplyDelete@ Anthony: I agree with you that it doesnt have the best youtube support but for a different reason, I wish I would be able to load the 720P vids on my iTouch 3G but oh well, it works
@ Samara: Yeah the alarm is really helpful!
@ Dummy: Well, iPad is really not worth it unless youre planning to do a lot of ebook reading, the iPhone4 / iTouch4 is much more effective for a cheaper price.
@ Omar: Yeah
@ Margoux: What do you use as your music player right now? When I was researching music players I learned of a player which is amazing in terms of sound quality: COWON D2. However, I think that the iTouch is still better because even though it has so many useless apps and whatnot, looking for the good ones and trying the different apps out is an experience on its own.
i own one too :D..... and i agree i can't live without it :P...
ReplyDeleteyea i have an ipod touch as well and when its jailbroken its absolutely amazing, u have every single app at your finger tips
